The Hypocrisy of Conservative America
Yes, I am cognizant of the liberal-conservative divide existing in almost every society, especially in the American society. In fact, it permeates every facet of the society — religious, social, political, etc.
Many have asked whether America is more liberal, or more conservative. The answer one gets to such a question depends on who’s asked, and on what’s the liberalism or the conservatism in reference to. Although some believe that America is changing– that is, America is getting more open — many believe that America is more conservative than liberal.
obviously, conservative America is depicted by the religious right and everything else associated with it. Generally speaking, they believe — or, tend to indicate — that they have respect for Godly or Christian values. Briefly stated, they contend that they want to protect the lessons and teachings of the Bible.
What is unbelievably shocking is that fact that many of these people are the same folks who spew hate, insults and use the most profane/vulgar of language. And, yes, they are the ones who profess to be living according to the teachings of the Bible. What a shameless act of hypocrisy.
There are conservative preachers who pray, and ask their members to pray, for Barack Obama to die. Then there were the scores of so-called Christian conservative men and women during the Health Care, calling Rep Stupak on the phone and insulting him with some of the most un-Christian language I have ever heard. Yet, they describe themselves as people who subscribe to the teachings of the Bible and Jesus. Doesn’t the Bible say that the speech of Christians should be seasoned with salt? Doesn’t Jesus say His followers should pray for their enemies and love those who hate them?
Or could it be that these so-called conservatives have a different Bible and a different Jesus?
